Gupteshwar Pandey has been an Indian Police Service (IPS) official starting around 1987. Presently he is filling in as Director General of Police.He has taken intentional retirement on 22 September 2020.(DGP) of Bihar.

• In November 2015, Bihar Government completely banned alcohol. Gupteswar Pandey traveled across Bihar and campaigned for alcohol ban. Women supported this campaign to a great extent.
• While serving as IG of Tirhut Division Muzaffarpur Range, he had started many initiatives to curb crime and make police people friendly.
• Gupteshwar Pandey had cracked UPSC Civil Services Examination twice. In his first attempt he was allotted IRS. In the second, he had secured IPS with home cadre.
